Logansport Memorial Hospital in Logansport, Ind., is upgrading its facilities to address increased cancer rates, according to an article on the Pharos-Tribune website.
The new cancer clinic in set to open in November, finishing phase one of a $7.4 million project to upgrade Logansport's cancer treatment and obstetric facilities.
Most of the 10,300-square-foot center is existing space that’s being repurposed.
Hospital CEO Perry Gay said local demographics and cancer incidence rates have increased the need for the hospital’s cancer services. Indiana’s cancer mortality rate is the ninth worst in the nation, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
