Ascension St. Vincent officials in Indianapolis recently announced plans for a $325 million expansion project that will include an updated women’s hospital and a new neurosurgical hospital, according to the Indy Star. The project will include a larger neonatal intensive care unit. Carmel-based Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine will partner on the hospital that showcases its specialty.
With the additions, the northside facility will seek to become a regional quaternary care center, which will provide specialty complex care to patients from around the state and the region, said Jonathan Nalli, chief executive officer of Ascension St. Vincent Indiana and ministry market executive for Ascension.
One of only two level IV perinatal health care centers, which offer the highest level of care to patients, the St. Vincent Women’s Hospital sits about 10 miles away from the state’s other Level IV perinatal center at Indiana University (IU) Health. IU Health Riley Hospital for Children also has plans to expand maternity services with a new $142 million tower, slated to open at the end of 2021.
