COVID-19 is inspiring infection preventionist and environmental services teams to work together in ways they hadn’t before, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.
Experts say that teamwork should continue after the crisis because IP-EVS collaboration is crucial for infection control and prevention in healthcare settings.
Sharon Ward-Fore, MS, MT(ASCP), CIC, said both teams should be included in discussions about cleaners and disinfectants that are used in various areas of the hospitals.
They should be involved in the training, so that all are knowledgeable about how both teamster trained so that when its time for units rounding and auditing, everyone knows that they’re following the correct processes.
