J.M. Electrical and BCM Controls begin control system project at new Partners HealthCare facility

J.M. Electrical Company, Inc., premier professionals in advanced automated building system installations, and BCM Controls Corporation announced today that they have kicked off project operations at the new Partners HealthCare facility in Somerville, Mass., a 750,000 square foot development. BCM Controls will be designing the facility’s automation system, which J.M. Electrical will install, to control the heating, cooling, and ventilation in the 13-story building, scheduled to bring more than 4,500 administrative employees to Assembly Row who are now scattered among 14 Partners HealthCare sites around the region. Suffolk Construction is the construction management firm overseeing the Partners HealthCare project.

“The integrated heating and cooling controls that we designed and installed in partnership with J.M. Electrical will help enhance the working environment for the 4,500 employees who will occupy the facility while helping the facility streamline its control systems to work more efficiently and effectively,” said Steve Feinberg, President at BCM Controls. “Projects like these are even more complex than most, so it was critical to work with a partner whom we have complete confidence in, and J.M. Electrical fit the bill.”

In order to maintain an environment that meets necessary occupancy needs, BCM Controls and J.M. Electrical will equip the building with a heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling control system, which will work together to maintain precise temperature and humidity levels while simultaneously moving large amounts of air throughout the development. These advanced systems are crucial to maintaining the optimal environment, and support an ongoing effort to reduce energy demand and consumption in buildings while guaranteeing reliable energy delivery.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as a partner on such a landmark facility and are looking forward to collaborating with all parties to ensure that this project is completed on time and on budget,” said John Guarracino, Project Manager at J.M. Electrical. “Today’s advanced building systems are amazingly sophisticated but it takes a wide range of skills and knowledge to ensure that all the systems work seamlessly and reliably, especially in a building with complicated requirements like the Partners HealthCare project. The end result will save money and energy, while also providing a better work experience for all occupants.”

There will be a Foreman overseeing up to 15 electricians on the construction and day-to-day operations to ensure that this project is completed on time and on budget. This project is scheduled to be completed by late 2016.  J.M. Electrical has over 30 years of experience and expertise in the installation of advanced automated building systems which from the beginning have been the cornerstone of the business. The experts will also continue to focus on retrofit, performance contracting, building automation controls, instrumentation, and fire alarm/integrated security systems.
