JLL Appoints Industry Veteran Richard Taylor to Lead Healthcare Solutions Group

In response to historic pressures on revenue and patient needs, healthcare organizations are transforming how they deliver patient care. To ensure their real estate portfolios and facilities are ready for this industry shift, Richard Taylor has been appointed to lead JLL's healthcare real estate practice. Based in Washington, D.C., Taylor will lead a team of more than 2,100 professionals across the U.S. in his new role as Executive Managing Director, Healthcare.

Since co-founding the JLL Healthcare Solutions group in 2010, Taylor has been instrumental in the firm's industry growth, and in anticipating how major healthcare disruptions will impact health systems' real estate and facilities decisions.

"Hospitals and other healthcare providers have the opportunity to improve the patient experience, mitigate risk and drive significant cost reduction by optimizing their facilities management and real estate portfolio strategy," said Roger Humphrey, Executive Managing Director, Industries, JLL. "Richard's leadership will further enhance our ability to deliver the strategic and innovative thinking essential in this era of disruption, helping healthcare organizations achieve their financial objectives and broader missions."

Taylor's appointment further bolsters JLL's effort to improve the quality of patient care. JLL recently hired George Mills, Director of Technical Operations. Mills, a 33-year healthcare industry veteran, is the former Director of the Department of Engineering at The Joint Commission. Earlier this year, former Kindred Healthcare executive Tony Disser joined JLL as an advisor to help bridge the gap between operations and patient care.

Taylor formerly served as Managing Director for JLL Healthcare Solutions. In this role, he led the healthcare practice's business development and consulting teams.

Prior to this, he was a founding member and senior executive at Oxford Specialty Management. Taylor worked with leading academic hospitals to develop case rate payment systems for the treatment of several complex healthcare diagnoses. He was then selected to run operations and business development for the disease management company Accordant Health Services, where he worked with health insurers and hospitals to outsource the post-acute care of patients with rare chronic diseases. Taylor also previously helped grow healthcare practice groups at Cushman & Wakefield and Newmark Knight Frank.

Taylor is a respected expert in healthcare real estate who has authored thought leadership and regularly speaks at national conferences hosted by top industry associations, such as the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Building Owners & Management Association (BOMA) and CoreNet.
