Larson Electronics Releases 50 Foot 600 Volt Explosion Proof Cord Reel for Hazardous Location


Larson Electronics, industrial grade lighting leader, released an explosion proof cord reel for Class I Division 1 and Class II, Division 2 environments. This 50 foot 8/4 SOOW cord is 600V rated and ideal for hazardous locations including grain storage and handling silos, waste water treatment plants, paint booths, chemical plants, petroleum facilities, underground mines and more.

The EPLRL-50-8.4-HR from Larson Electronics is a 50 foot 8/4 SOOW explosion proof cord reel rated at 600 volts. This cord reel is built with ready to install portable explosion proof fixtures on the end, and is constructed of modular components paired with a spark proof ratchet and slip ring housing, compatible with use in explosive environments. This cord reel comes with a standard two-roller adjustable cable guide and ball, as well as a quick change spring canister replacement with an external spring torque adjustment. A 6 foot feeder cord is also included.The EPLRL-50-8.4-HR is approved for both indoor and outdoor use, making it a very flexible-use explosion proof cord reel, and is built to UL 508 table 36.1/NEC standards. The reel is NEMA 7 and NEMA 9 compliant, built with rugged fabricated steel and a cast aluminum slip ring enclosure, providing users with a durable and reliable cord reel that can survive harsh conditions.“This explosion proof cord reel provides operators with an effective, smooth functioning cord reel that’s safe to use in explosive environments,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics LLC. “The cable guide, ball stop and torque adjustment keep the cord inline and easy to extend and retract, making attached fixtures easier and thus, quicker to use and put back.”
