Leading-Edge Knowledge Reveals the Future at the LIGHTFAIR International 2018 Conference

The celebrated LIGHTFAIR International Conference brings together thought leaders from across the globe to deliver the newest knowledge imparting the future of light, technology, design and connectivity.  LIGHTFAIR will take place in Chicago at McCormick Place May 6 – 10, 2018 (Pre-Conference LIGHTFAIR Institute®: May 6 – 7; Trade Show & Conference: May 8 – 10).

The five-day 2018 Conference program will feature 72 courses with 121 speakers presenting the latest information and leading-edge concepts to attendees representing a broad spectrum of industries.  Under a curriculum developed by lighting, technology and design experts seated on a select Advisory Committee, the LFI Conference offers enlightening topics, dynamic speakers and industry intelligence as a featured component of the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference.

LIGHTFAIR 2018 will offer its first-ever Smart Cities Forum.  Smart cities are leading lighting into the Internet of Things (IoT) where lighting enables digital technologies critical to the expansion of city services.  This forum informs on relevant protocols, artificial intelligence, data analysis, case studies and more.  Participants will see how smart cities are leading the way to a connected future.  The Smart Cities Forum is sponsored by ENLIGHTED, INC., Booth 412.

The Light & Health Forum will return for its third year.  Light has been shown to impact humans well beyond providing for optimal visual performance.  This forum continues to explore the non-visual effects of light not only on humans, but also plants and wildlife.  Current knowledge of the impact of light on biological health and overall well-being will be addressed with more detailed exploration into the new metrics and design guidelines that are shaping circadian lighting applications.

The Conference tracks are: Applications Research, Inspiration, Design Tools and Technologies, Core Knowledge, Design Strategies, Intelligent Lighting and Connectivity and Professional Development.

LIGHTFAIR will continue to offer 60-minute sessions which feature a shorter course format while covering some of the industry’s most relevant topics such as daylight, IoT lighting systems, sky glow, restaurant lighting, tunable light specification, 3-D printing, intelligent buildings, retrofits, network security, medical facility lighting and Li-Fi.

LIGHTFAIR 2018 will offer simultaneous Spanish and Portuguese translation services for eight select seminars.

The Pre-Conference LIGHTFAIR Institute® and LIGHTFAIR Conference program includes nine immersion Institute courses, eight in-depth Institute workshops, twenty 90-minute seminars, two Conference workshops, twelve forum sessions, nineteen 60-minute sessions and two Lunch & Learn seminars with AIA, ASLA, BOMI, IDCEC, IEEE, IES and NCQLP accreditation.
