A recent survey by the magazine reported that most healthcare environmental services leaders have felt pressure to keep costs down. 

Because labor is the most costly line item, investments in staff retention and training tend to rank high with those looking to reduce or maintain their costs, the article said.

Lean initiatives can also pay off by, for instance, reducing operating room turnover time.
