Man shoots stepdaughter, self in Illinois hospital parking lot

Elmhurst Hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution


Elmhurst Hospital was placed on lockdown after a 73-year-old manshot and critically wounded his stepdaughter before fatally shooting himself in its parking lot, according to an article on the ABC7 website.

Hospital officials said the stepfather and his stepdaughter were involved in a domestic altercation outside of the emergency room.

The hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution due to the shooting and but quickly returned to normal operations.

Emergency officials have not said what led up to the shooting or why the man and his stepdaughter came to the hospital.
