Morton Hospital in Taunton unveils a new new $25 million emergency department with a "pod system” to help segregate patients based on the severity of their injury or ailment, according to an article on the Taunton Daily Gazette.

The 43-bed, 41,000-square-foot emergency department features single-bed rooms for patients, has a specially designated ambulance entrance in the back of the building, with a new road built for convenient EMT access.

The ED also has a dedicated area for decontamination.

The department has natural light throughout, with windows in almost every room, including in the new custom-made behavioral health area built to optimize patient safety.
