Six months after complaints about lack of security at the emergency room of the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, Mich., plans are in place to upgrade the facility's security, according to an article on the Daily Reporter website.
Hospital CEO Randy DeGroot said staff was getting pricing so the planning committee could help make recommendations.
Putting a locked entry door on the ER — so registration staff could lock it in a panic mode — and adding an intercom would cost only about $1,200.
"Our first concern was someone under the influence jumping over (the registration desk) and getting the ladies,” said Trustee Dr. David Fuchs.
