Microhospitals can offer emergency care access

Houston hospital adopts two microhospitals to supplement emergency access


Some healthcare organizations are turning to microhospitals to expand access to emergency care to meet increasing consumer needs, according to an article on the Patient Engagement HIT website.

Memorial Hermann in Houston, for instance, has recently signed a deal to integrate at least two microhospitals.

Memorial Hermann is using its newly-acquired microhospitals to supplement its emergency care offerings. The health system also has urgent care centers and convenient care centers.

Microhospitals, unlike urgent care or convenient care center, has hospital beds. Having beds offers the option to keep a patient for observation in case of a larger emergency.
