Milan Hospital Deploys Qure.ai’s AI Solution to Measure COVID-19 Disease Progression

Qure.ai's AI solution, qRX will help to quantify disease progression in COVID-19 patients and aid in building treatment plans at San Qure.ai (www.qure.ai), a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for radiology today announced that they will be working with the Italian San Raffaele university hospital to monitor disease progression in COVID-19 patients. Qure.ai’s automated chest X-ray solution, qXR interprets a COVID-19 patient’s lung scans in seconds and quantifies how much of their lungs have been affected by the viral infection. This enables the time and resource-strapped clinicians to monitor disease progression more accurately and efficiently.

COVID-19 patients need frequent monitoring of their lung infection using chest X-rays. However, quantifying the extent of the infection is a time-consuming step for already overloaded radiologists and the results are often inconsistent. This is where Qure.ai’s qXR can help. qXR can detect findings like ground-glass opacities and consolidation abnormalities that are indicative of COVID-19. The AI-powered solution also helps detect tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, lung malignancies and medical emergencies like lung collapses and cardiac disorders. It can also localize lesions and quantify the volume of an infection.

Italy, one of the most affected countries by the COVID-19 pandemic is grappling to contain the spread of the virus and treat its patients. Its healthcare infrastructure has been under intense pressure to control the viral transmission, diagnose and treat patients fast, while also dealing with staff shortages, among other things.
