The new 43,000-square-foot addition to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mo., includes 124 new beds in private rooms and room for future growth, according to an article on the Healthcare Construction + Operations website.
The West Tower additionhouses the new Dee Ann White Women’s and Children’s hospital and the Jared Neuroscience Center.
The 10-story tower incorporates the CoxHealth design guiding principles: design for patient and family experience, for safety, for employer of choice and for stewardship, the article said.
The new facility was designed to meet LEED Silver standards, but certification was not pursued due to the extra cost for documentation and submission.
