HVAC needs within sterile processing areas must be addressed in compliance with current standards, according to an article on the Cleanroom Technology website.

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is the standard-setting organization for all healthcare cleaning, disinfection and sterilization practices.

AAMI’s sterilization standards are applicable to all healthcare facilities.

The AAMI has recommended that each facility establish and implement processes to monitor the HVAC performance parameters and have a mechanism to identify and resolve any variances within the areas/rooms throughout the sterile processing areas.
