More cleaning staff at hospitals urged

The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions says there isn’t sufficient cleaning staff to keep hospitals clean

The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU) said there isn’t sufficient cleaning staff to keep the province's hospitals clean, but Quinte Health Care officials disagree, according to an article on the Intelligencer website.

The unions are traveling the province to spread its message about the risk of an increase in the spread of infections.

They are urging the province to supply more funding to augment its environmental cleaners and infection control specialists.

Louis Rodrigues, first vice-president of OCHU, is calling for the government to enact a number of measures including the increase in full-time cleaning staff. He said Ontario is trailing all other provinces in terms of funding.
