New Brooklyn health system to get $664M to transform safety-net hospitals

One Brooklyn received a $664 million commitment from Gov. Andrew Cuomo to help the member hospitals improve their facilities


One Brooklyn Health, the newly formed system that combines Kingsbrook Jewish, Interfaith and Brookdale University Hospital medical centers, received a $664 million commitment from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to help the hospitals improve their facilities, according to an article on the Crain's New York website.

The health system is planning nearly 70 infrastructure projects, many of which are interdependent.

One of the biggest undertakings will be to transform Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center from a traditional hospital into a medical village with a mix of outpatient, emergency and post-acute-care services.

But for Kingsbrook to begin to do the work of repurposing buildings for the medical village, it needs infrastructure improvements.
