The new $446 million tower at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson will focuses on technology, patient comfort, according to an article on the Tucson.com website.
The 670,000-square-foot tower will have 228 private patient rooms, 20 new, larger operating rooms, and expand the number of hospital beds from 479 to 649. The number of intensive-care adult beds, always in high demand, will increase by 96.
It will have a floor for labor and delivery and enhanced telemedicine capabilities.
There is also a new cafeteria, a chapel, a cafe, a pharmacy and several outdoor areas and rooms designed for family members to "take a quiet moment."
