Nuffield Health’s £75m hospital in Manchester, U.K., which will sit on the site of Manchester Metropolitan University’s former Elizabeth Gaskell campus, has been scaled down since original designs were released last summer, according to an article on the Construction News website.
Initial plans included more than 131,000 square feet of healthcare facilities across three floors, including 30 consultation rooms, 60 patient en-suite bedrooms and six operating rooms.
However, the size of the facility has now been reduced to just under 97,300 square feet
The shape of the building also has been changed significantly to improve patient and staff flows, adopting a more circular flow compared with previous designs, while it has also been reduced in height from three floors to two.
