New finish for metal surfaces is designed to inhibit bacteria growth

A new antimicrobial protection finish for both interior and exterior high-touch metal surfaces is designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria.

By Healthcare Facilities Today

Linetec, a company specializing in coatings for architectural products, has introduced a new antimicrobial protection finish for both interior and exterior high-touch metal surfaces such as doors, windows, entrances, panels and column covers.

Ideal for healthcare facilities, the antimicrobial protection is infused into specific polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) finishes to inhibit the growth of bacteria on coatings for aluminum surfaces. The fluoropolymer finish contains a minimum of 70% PVDF resin, thus the three-coat system meets requirements of AAMA 2605, according to the manufacturer.

“Anywhere the growth of stain and odor-causing bacteria is a concern, architectural aluminum manufacturers can benefit from this extra level of protection,” says Jon Close, vice president of sales for Linetec, in a press release.
