Hospital leaders are pledging safety improvements


Staff at Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg say they were asking for improved security even before a gunman shot one of their colleagues, according to an article on the Post and Courier website.

Hospital leaders are now pledging safety improvements.

A hospital employee was shot April 10 by by a gunman who came to the ER.

At the time of the shooting, the front desk provided little security for any of them. It had no protective barrier, no bullet-proof glass, no metal detector, nothing but the unarmed workers staffing it.
