Canton, Ohio, healthcare facilities are always review security procedures, even as recent shootings across the country have hospital officials evaluating policies, according to an article on the Canton Rep website.
“Now we are seeing hospitals are becoming places where these violent acts are occurring,” said John Palmer, director of media and public relations at the Ohio Hospital Association in Columbus.
“It’s definitely changed a lot of our tactics when it comes to safety programs and increased vigilance with regard to who’s coming in and leaving the facilities.”
Recent incidents have led hospital officials “to re-evaluate their hospital security, reassess what they’re doing and how they’re making sure they’re in a position to respond,” Palmer said. “They do have emergency procedures in place, ranging from community shooting or natural disaster or health epidemic to school shootings.”
