Penn State Hershey would bear the brunt of treating victims from any mass casualty event in the area


Emergency responders in the midstate Pennsylvania region say they have prepared for the possibility of a mass shooting, according to an article on the Penn Live website.

As the largest pediatric and adult trauma center in the region, Penn State Hershey would bear the brunt of treating victims from any mass casualty event in the area, the article said. 

The hospital's Emergency Response and Mass Casualty Task Force meets every other month to discuss how to keep the hospital at "constant readiness." 

The hospital will conduct a mass casualty drill at the end of July to put our emergency response policies and procedures into practice.
