The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections recently opened a new medical wing in the State Correctional Institution at Muncy, according to an article on the Sun-Gazette website.
The new 10,000-square-foot Wilson Infirmary Annex is the women’s prison’s response to an ever-increasing population.
The annex will have 19 long-term beds, a dialysis center, two exam rooms, offices, a laundry area, multi-purpose rooms, a dental clinic, laboratory and an OB-GYN clinic.
The annex gives the prison the ability to treat more and decrease the number of times that the facility needs to move inmates to outside sources.
