Perimeter Architects Adds Full-Service Design-Build While Focusing On Healthy Lifestyles

Perimeter Architects announces its newly formed company, Perimeter Architects & Construction, created to provide architect-led design-build (ALDB) services and act as the single point of contact for its clients.  This extension of services will allow Perimeter, who specializes in the design and construction of medical and health and wellness developments, to seamlessly maintain the client’s design vision through the entire construction process.

Perimeter’s transition to an ALDB firm means its clients will have the option for an integrated strategy that contains both design and construction services.  From conception to completion, efficient project delivery is achieved because the challenges of design and budget run simultaneously.  According to the Design-Build Institute of America, this service leads to an average of 12% faster construction time and 5.2% lower cost for projects.

Based in Chicago, Perimeter’s selected works include healthcare clinics, senior living facilities, cannabis dispensaries and health and wellness facilities, encompassing athletic clubs, yoga studios and sports medicine facilities.  Notably, Perimeter designed Chicago’s first medical marijuana dispensary, Dispensary 33, which was named one of “The 10 Most Beautiful Cannabis Dispensaries in America,” by Leafly in 2017.  The firm’s most recent project within the healthcare space included full architectural design work for Journey Senior Living, a 100,000 square-foot, 100-unit assisted living and memory care center in Valparaiso, Indiana.

“The integrated design-build process allows more open communication, creating a singular focus on meaningful creative design backed by construction expertise,” said John Issa, principal, Perimeter Architects & Construction.  “The opportunity to collaborate and optimize the design effort with construction provides our clients with the end-result they envisioned and creates a new kind of environment filled with attentive details.”

Firm partners John Issa’s and Branyo Dvorak’s own active lifestyles align with the focus on designing and constructing developments within the health and wellness markets.  As avid triathletes and cyclists, they have launched the firm’s We Ride Program, which will be implemented for every design-build project.  Each partner will ride to and from their client’s job site throughout the duration of the project to raise money for local and national health-conscious nonprofits that support these active lifestyles.

“For every construction project, Perimeter will donate $10 per mile biked to a local charity of our client’s choosing, while also donating 1 percent of construction profits to World Bicycle Relief, a nonprofit that provides bicycles to those in rural and developing countries,” said Dvorak, principal, Perimeter Architects & Construction.  “We want to change the way people think about architecture.  It’s so much more than just a service and by understanding what our clients are passionate about, we can better connect with them as architects, builders and human beings.”
