Piedmont Fayette Hospital to Build New Patient Tower

The renovation and expansion project will extend to other areas of the hospital, including surgical services, kitchen, lab, pharmacy and more.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital has received approval from the Piedmont Healthcare Board of Directors on a $275 million expansion project that will transform the hospital’s campus and help care for the citizens of a rapidly growing community. The project represents the Piedmont system’s largest capital investment since the Marcus Tower on the campus of Piedmont Atlanta, the system’s founding hospital.

The project will add a new patient tower with additional space shelled out for potential expansion. Piedmont Fayette opened in 1997 with 54 beds. Today, it has 310 beds, more than 2,300 employees, performs over 13,000 surgeries each year and has 130,000 outpatient encounters annually.

The renovation and expansion project will extend to other areas of the hospital, including surgical services (four new operating rooms and space for four more), kitchen, lab, pharmacy and more. The plan includes building a new Central Utility Plant that will be sized to serve the entire expanded campus. The loading dock will also be expanded and renovated.

The new construction will consist of approximately 218,250 square feet with an additional 31,304 square feet of existing space being renovated.
