Pittsburgh VA hospital moves patients due to ventilation problems

Forty patients were transferred because a ventilation unit failed


Forty patients at a Veterans Administration hospital in Pittsburgh were transferred to other beds because a ventilation unit failed, according to an article on the Trib Live website.

Equipment that provides air conditioning to three patient-care units broke down.

Nearly all of the patients were transferred to other beds elsewhere in the hospital. Two were transferred to other hospitals.

The mechanical breakdown forced the VA to divert most medical admissions, including surgeries, to other hospitals and VA medical centers.
