Pittsburgh hospital Cardiothoracic ICU shut down due to mold

Eighteen patients at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital relocated because of the infestation


The cardiothoracic intensive care unit at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh was forced to close because of an infestation of mold, according to an article on the WPXI website.

Eighteen patients were relocated because of the mold.

A team of experts from infection prevention, facilities, nursing and other areas is working with an outside remediation company to reopen the ICU. 

The Department of Health is investigating the situation.
