Practice Greenhealth releases sustainability report

Report encourages hospitals to improve sustainability efforts


Practice Greenhealth has released the 2015 Environmental Excellence Awards Sustainability Benchmark Report, which includes an analysis of the achievements of the 2015 Environmental Excellence award winners, according to an article on the Healthcare Construction & Operations website.

The report describes how healthcare facilities are reducing their environmental footprints, achieving financial savings and changing their organizational culture as they address environmental issues.

Participating hospitals trimmed costs by approximately $76 million, cut both general and medical waste, increased the use of green cleaning products, cut the use of potentially harmful chemicals and saved on energy costs, according to the report.

The report also includes sustainability trends and emerging areas of focus.
