At 122,600 square feet, the facility nearly doubles the space of the current center, built in 1964.
A Patient and Family Advisory Council, composed of former Spectrum Health patients and family members, sat in on meetings with developers to ensure the design of the new facility is easy to use and navigate.
The private rooms are designed like apartments. The two-bedroom rooms come with a partial privacy wall — rather than a curtain — separating the two beds, both of which have window access.
