S.C. ER evacuated after man tears sprinkler head from ceiling

The patient also allegedly assaulted a hospital security member who tried to restrain him


The first floor of Baptist Easley Hospital in Easley, S.C., was evacuated because of a damaged sprinkler head, according to an article on the Fox Carolina website.

A patient ripped the sprinkler head off the ceiling, police said.

He also allegedly assaulted a hospital security member who tried to restrain him. 

Damage to a single sprinkler head caused water to pool on the floor in a small section of that area and the fire alarm to activate.  As a precaution, the emergency department was temporarily evacuated.
