Southco Expands India Manufacturing Facility

Southco, Inc., a provider of engineered access solutions announced that it will expand its operations in Pune, India by an additional 20,000 square feet. The newly expanded facility will include an increased manufacturing footprint and office area. Construction will begin this year, with completion scheduled for September 2019.

Southco has experienced phenomenal growth in the Indian market in the last five years. The overall tremendous growth of the Indian economy over the past decade and its continuing strong growth forecast for years to come, have driven Southco to enhance its production capacity to be ready to meet the demands of this surging market.

With its expansion in India, Southco will continue to bring new manufacturing technologies to India and produce more parts locally to support the “Make in India” initiative of the Indian Government. As a result of the expansion, the number of associates at the Pune facility is forecast to double.

“Southco has been the trusted partner of leading Indian OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers for decades and we understand the challenges and requirements of the Indian market. Having a sales and manufacturing presence in India enables us to respond to the specific needs of the Indian market,” said Prakash T. John, General Manager, Southco India. “With the completion of this expansion project, we are doubling our manufacturing footprint in India to ensure that Southco is in a strong position to continue to support the fantastic business growth in this region.”
