Staff opinions are helping shape the new $500 million St. Louis University replacement hospital, according to an article on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch website.
SSM Health officials, St. Louis University leaders, medical staff and designers have worked closely on ways to avoid the problems of the original outdated facility.
The hospital administration has created a nearby design studio that features life-size versions of various rooms that will be in the new hospital, including operating rooms, patient rooms and a room in the intensive care unit.
The mock hospital rooms and hallways are made out of plastic foam. Mapped out in each room is where equipment, furniture and even televisions and phones will be placed.
