N.Y. Health Department is testing water at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center for Legionella bacteria in its the water supply, according to an article on the Local Syr website.
The facility's of tap water restricted while more samples are taken.
The hospital’s 11 cooling towers have all tested negative, but preliminary tests indicate the presence of Legionella bacteria in part of the building’s water system.
Additional testing was prompted after the discovery that three patients were diagnosed with Legionella pneumonia within the past month.
