Older adults in McKinney, Texas, soon will have hospitality-inspired living options in a scenic setting, as construction recently began on Touchmark at Emerald Lake, a new retirement community.

Designed by Dallas-based national architecture firm threearch.com, Touchmark at Emerald Lake will sit on 81 acres overlooking the property’s spring-fed private lake. In addition to a range of lakeside and hilltop outdoor activity spaces, multiple dining and refreshment venues will feature indoor and outdoor overlook seating, ideal for lively conversations centered on gourmet dining experiences. Diverse programming, entertainment and wellness offerings will rival hospitality-focused destinations.

A future phase will add a health and fitness center with pool, spa, salon and dining along with more homes, bringing the retirement community’s total number of homes to more than 400.

According to architect Rocky Berg, principal with three who has been involved in the design and construction of more than 30 new and renovated senior living communities, future residents of Touchmark at Emerald Lake can expect to enjoy the highest level of services and care consistent with the Touchmark brand. The amenities are curated to provide enjoyment and support living meaningful lives.

Touchmark at Emerald Lake’s first phase is expected to open in 2023 with 149 independent living apartment homes, six duplex residences, 84 assisted living residences, and 32 memory care residences. Thirty-two of the assisted living homes will be studios, offering a smaller neighborhood environment and higher resident-to-staff ratio.
