The Joint Commission Appoints New Leadership in Accreditation and Certification Operations

The Joint Commission announces two new leadership appointments in its Accreditation and Certification Operations division: Chad Larson, MBA, named as executive director of Hospital Business Development, and Lisa DiBlasi Moorehead, EdD, MSN, RN, named as associate nurse executive. Both executives will report to Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer and chief nurse executive.

Larson has worked for The Joint Commission for more than 13 years. Most recently, he served as director of Business Operations in the Division of Support Operations, where he led the administration and management of operational, financial and planning activities. He also was a project lead on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, utilizing Baldrige Excellence Framework and Lean Six Sigma methodology to identify gaps in internal processes to promote organizational culture transformation.

Larson also was an associate director in Accreditation and Certification Operations where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of accreditation and certification survey activities. His responsibilities included strategic planning, financial management and retention, and recruitment efforts for several different accreditation and certification programs.

Larson holds a master of business administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management, DeVry University, with an emphasis in Health Services Administration.

DiBlasi Moorehead was most recently a field director at The Joint Commission where she has been a surveyor since 2010 for its Hospital Accreditation Program. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, she was responsible for accreditation and regulatory compliance and related performance improvement activities for a five-hospital system in Louisville, Kentucky. She also has held leadership positions in nursing, quality and education during her more than 30 years in health care.

DiBlasi Moorehead has held certifications in health care quality, critical care nursing and as a clinical nurse specialist. She received her doctorate in leadership education from Spalding University, Louisville, and her master of science in nursing from the University of Louisville.

“Chad and Lisa have proven success at The Joint Commission and I am pleased to welcome them to their new leadership positions,” says Pelletier. “Together, Chad’s role to further grow hospital business through expanded recruitment efforts and Lisa’s position to enhance our strong relationships with the nursing community will help The Joint Commission continue to improve patient safety and quality of care for patients and health care professionals across the country.”
