The benefits of a well-designed healthcare CHP system can include:

• Significantly reduced energy costs

• Ability to reallocate capital to purposes critical to the hospital’s mission

• Enhanced power (and heat) reliability and resiliency that exceeds supply from the grid and traditional emergency generators

Numerous studies have demonstrated the reliability of appropriately designed CHP in supplying power during grid outages, the article said.
