TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital’s parking garage partially collapsed Jan. 22 after a vehicle crashed into a second-floor wall of the structure at a high speed, Fox News reports. No injuries have been reported as a result of the accident. According to WBOC, a rescue box was struck to alert emergency crews for the collapse.
The hospital’s Facebook page said that structural engineers have assessed the situation and have determined that Garage A is safe outside of the limited damage, but it will remain closed for the immediate future.
Hospital officials reassured that there was enough parking on its campus to accommodate staff members who regularly used that portion of the garage.
