Tnemec Company, Inc. Acquires Assets of Textured Coatings of America, Inc.

Tnemec Company, Inc., an industry-leading manufacturer of industrial and architectural protective coatings, has purchased assets of Textured Coatings of America, Inc. (Tex•Cote®). Established in 1961, Tex•Cote manufactures high-performance, water-based coatings for use on commercial, residential and Department of Transportation (DOT) projects, according to Terry Wallace, Vice President – Business Development at Tnemec.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tex•Cote into the Tnemec family and feel there are great synergies between the two companies,” Wallace explained. “Tex•Cote has great products, excellent production facilities and outstanding personnel. Our plan is to provide Tex•Cote with operational and managerial support for growth within its current markets and customer base.”

Textured Coatings of America, Inc. was founded in Los Angeles, California, and quickly established a reputation for high-quality coatings that extend repainting cycles for homeowners and commercial property owners. A majority ownership of the company was acquired from the founders by Stuart Haines in 1961, and under his leadership, the company expanded its sales throughout North America and internationally to more than 23 countries.

“Our company has been involved in countless landmark and high-profile projects, from bridges to airports, from college campuses to massive commercial projects, over the last 58 years,” noted Stuart Haines, Chairman and President /CEO of Textured Coatings of America, Inc. “I am very proud to know that Tnemec will continue the family-owned legacy for the employees and customers of Tex•Cote.”

“We feel a real kinship with Tex•Cote,” commented Chase Bean, President/CEO, Tnemec. “Both companies share a common history of private ownership, multi-generational family management and an entrepreneurial spirit that is deeply-rooted in the company culture.”

Tex•Cote manufactures a variety of products including COOLWALL® coatings for exterior vertical substrates, REFLECT-TEC® coatings for roofs, and COOL-TEC® coatings for horizontal concrete and decks. The COOLWALL, REFLECT-TEC and COOL-TEC lines incorporate specialty pigment technology that reflects infra-red heat to help keep exterior surfaces cooler compared to traditional paints.

Tex•Cote’s extensive product line also offers water repellents and stains, anti-graffiti coatings, dry-erase coatings and interior coatings, as well as a variety of primers, block-fillers and patching compounds.

“We are so pleased to add Tex•Cote’s coating technology to the range of specialty products at Tnemec Company and even more excited about what the future holds for the company,” added Bean.
