Two 'massive' healthcare facilities coming to Ottawa in 2017

The Pinnacle Centres of Healthcare Excellence will offer 'one stop shopping' for healthcare

Two large healthcare facilities — Pinnacle Centres of Healthcare Excellence — will be coming to Ottawa, Canada, in 2017 offering "one stop shopping" for healthcare, according to an article on the CTV News website.

"In a typical Pinnacle facility that size, we would have 40 family doctors, 40 to 50 specialists, ambulatory surgeries, blood and fluid, pharmacies, diagnostic and home healthcare," said William Wallace MacKinnon, the founder and chairman of Pinnacle Centres of Healthcare Excellence.

Pinnacle is a for-profit company but says it will be able to offer doctors more revenue with less overhead through an economy of scale.

"We make a profit, but there’s no need to make a ridiculous profit."

The key to making this work of course is attracting the doctors. So the perks are plenty: free on-site daycare, free parking, a fitness center.  There is even a retreat for doctors and their families with boating and waterskiing, MacKinnon said.
