Update to BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) released

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International announces the release of the BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP®) Version 2.0. The six-course curriculum, designed to help property professionals reduce energy use in their buildings, is an update to the groundbreaking original BEEP series, reflecting the latest industry trends, new technologies and best practices to improve the energy performance of real estate assets.

First launched in 2007, BEEP quickly became the industry standard for energy management training, reaching tens of thousands of industry professionals. This year, BEEP was redeveloped, refined and updated. BEEP Version 2.0 offers the most relevant, up-to-date source of energy efficiency training for industry professionals, and it includes information, strategies, how-to guides and resources needed to reduce energy and costs. The series also offers all-new actionable and results-oriented supplemental materials that are based on the latest technologies and best practices.

The new curriculum includes:

● Introduction to Energy Performance

● How To Benchmark Energy Performance Using ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager

● Audits to Action Plans – Concepts and Economic Benefits

● Low-Cost Opportunities to Improve Energy Performance and Reduce Costs

● Building the Business Case – Valuing Energy Enhancement Projects and Financial Returns

● Engagement and Awareness – Promoting and Leveraging Sustainability Performance

In order to maximize its impact on the industry, the BEEP Version 2.0 course series can be accessed either online or through in-person training in a classroom setting. Companies or other organizations also can license the material for internal use. Additionally, BOMA International’s BEEP Version 2.0 Speakers Bureau can assist host organizations in identifying leading practitioners and subject matter experts to deliver the courses in live formats.

“As the market responds to increasing demand for energy efficiency, resources like the updated BEEP series help industry professionals stay up-to-date on the latest best practices for creating operational savings through energy management,” commented Brenna S. Walraven, RPA, CPM, BOMA Fellow, president of Corporate Sustainability Strategies and the lead author of BEEP.

“BOMA International is proud to offer BEEP Version 2.0 as part of its continued leadership in the area of commercial real estate sustainability,” added BOMA International Chair-Elect Kent C. Gibson, BOMA Fellow, president of Capstone Property Management, LC. “We are committed to providing the tools and resources that property professionals need to maximize energy efficiency and make their buildings high-performing assets.”
