Utah health system opens hospital-based simulation center

LDS Hospital simulation center is designed to increase patient safety and improve clinical outcomes through hands-on scenarios


The new Intermountain Simulation Center at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, is designed to increase patient safety and improve clinical outcomes through hands-on scenarios, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

The 10,000-square-foot of space center is equipped allows staffto develop and practice physical skills, critical thinking, decision-making, collaboration and communication in a safe yet realistic environment, the article said.

The center features:

• Three-patient rooms

• Fully equipped operating room

• Labor & delivery suite with infant resuscitation station

• Procedure lab

• Home health suite

• Centralized control room

High-definition cameras are positioned throughout the center, which gives simulation staff the ability to view and interact with medical staff.
