A top-to-bottom review of the New Hampshire VA Medical Center in Manchester is planned in response to whistleblower concerns, according to an article on the Providence Journal website.
The VA Office of the Medical Inspector and the VA Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection are being sent to review allegations. The VA already has removed the director and chief of staff at the facility, pending the outcome of the review.
A Boston Globe’s Spotlight article detailed several allegations, including the abandonment of one operating room due to fly infestation and cancelled surgeries in June due to apparent rust or blood on supposedly sterile instruments.
This hospital is the only one providing statewide treatment for military veterans and achieved a four-star rating late last year.
