When to use low-moisture carpet cleaning

Low-moisture carpet typically refers to a method that uses no water or a very moderate amount of water

When it comes to carpet cleaning, a variety of methods are available, but is advisable for a healthcare facility to use a low moisture strategy, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Low-moisture carpet cleaning is typically a method that uses no water or a very moderate amount of water. The goal is for the carpet to dry in two hours or less at 65 percent relative humidity and at a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the article said.

The longer a carpet remains wet after cleaning, the more likely that mold, mildew and bacteria can develop. These contaminants can become airborne and can prove quite dangerous.

Also, the slippery surface of a wet carpet can be dangerous, especially where the carpet meets a hard-surface floor.
