Wisconsin healthcare providers unveil portable shelter system

Mobile system designed to bring care to communities where healthcare facilities are temporarily inoperable

Wisconsin healthcare providers recently unveiled a facility that is designed to bring hospital care to communities in Wisconsin where healthcare facilities may be temporarily inoperable, according to an article on the Wausau Daily Herald.

The Wisconsin Disaster Response Team  unveiled a portable shelter system that is capable of providing a 40-bed mobile medical care facility.

The facility has standard emergency medical equipment and specialty items that includes burn supplies to treat 20 burn patients, pediatric emergency medical equipment, and personal protective equipment that can be worn during a biological or radiological terrorism incident.

The Mobile Medical Care Facility is staffed by health care professional volunteers from the Wisconsin Disaster Medical Response Team, partner Medical Reserve Corps Units, and Wisconsin’s Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry, WEAVR, members, the article said.
