Children's hospital to have Xbox Kinect-powered atrium

New $270 million A.I. duPont Hospital for Children will open in Wilmington, Del.

The A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., will have a new Discovery Zone area in the atrium powered by Xbox Kinect, according to an article and video on the WDEL website.

An interactive video was designed to help patients get their bodies moving. The new building will have 144 single patient rooms and is designed to be bright and airy and family-friendly, the article said.

"Hospitals were cold forbidding places now they are designed with families at the center of the design process thinking about how kids feel comfortable and how families feel comfortable," said Dr Neil Izenberg.

The new building will open to patients in October.
