The emergency department of Northwell Health’s Huntington Hospital in Huntington N.Y., has achieved LEED Gold certification, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.
The design focuses on extensive water use reduction, strong energy performance, enhanced commissioning, low-emitting materials and construction waste management.
Collectively, these measures helped the project earn enough points for gold certification.
The hospital expanded its ED to support a growing need for services. The resulting space doubles its predecessor in size.
