UK hospital opens infection control unit

Patients with infections previously were treated in 32 side rooms spread across West Suffolk hospital

By Healthcare Facilities Today

A special ward has been opened to provide infection control nursing care at West Suffolk Hospital, according to an article on the BuryFreePress website.

The area has been refurbished and converted to a dedicated isolation facility providing eight single rooms, most of which have en suite toilet and shower facilities.

The project means that patients with high-risk infections such as colstridium difficile and MRSA can be treated at the unit by staff who have specific expertise and training in infection control, the article said.

Previously patients were treated in 32 side rooms spread across the hospital. These will now be earmarked for patients needing additional privacy.
