27 Hawaii hospitals join for disaster drill

Hospitals from six islands simulate response to disaster


Twenty-seven hospitals from six Hawaiian islands joined to simulate response to a disaster, according to an article on the KITV website.

Temporary medical surge facilities were set up to include a portable disaster hospital system. Patients were processed in the triage tent before being sent to get care.

Other patients were transported to and from hospitals via us army helicopters. 

The goal of the exercise was to learn what areas need to be improved should a mass disaster happen and improve emergency response procedures.
