7 Million N95 Masks From Federal Stockpile Earmarked For Nursing Homes

Stockpile has 44 million masks

U.S. nursing homes will get 7 million N95 respirators from the federal stockpile, according to an article on the  Bloomberg website.

The Strategic National Stockpile was created after 2001 anthrax attacks to hold supplies needed in the event of bioterrorism.

Also, mask N95 manufacturers would be allowed to delay filling orders,  so the masks would be sent to the commercial market instead.

A July 14 letter from the American Health Care Association stated that almost  20 percent of nursing homes told the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention they either have no PPE or less than a week’s supply,

An opinion piece in the Annals of Internal Medicine argued that all healthcare workers in hospitals who have to deal with patients who either have coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) or could have the disease should be equipped with N95 respirators, according to an article. on the Infection Control Today website.
